Whether you're planning a cozy dinner date, looking to indulge in an iconic happy hour, or eager to test your wine knowledge in a sophisticated setting, the West Village is your playground.  And, of course, we'll give you the lowdown on what to wear so you can blend in with the effortlessly chic crowd.

The Noortwyck

During my visit to The Noortwyck, I discovered this West Village gem offers more than just an elegant dining experience—it’s a tribute to history and craftsmanship. Chef Andy Quinn and Sommelier Cedric Nicaise, both former colleagues at Eleven Madison Park, have brought a touch of their former workplace’s finesse to The Noortwyck, especially with their standout dish: BBQ Duck Breast with gai lan, apricot, and goji berry. Known for its duck, Eleven Madison Park’s influence is clear, as Quinn and Nicaise wanted to make this beloved dish a signature at The Noortwyck.

The name itself, “Noortwyck,” is a nod to the area’s Dutch history, as the restaurant sits on what was once the northern district of New Amsterdam. Blending history with modern elegance, The Noortwyck creates an inviting space that feels both elevated and comfortable. The menu is a reflection of New York’s seasonal bounty, and every dish is full of unexpected twists. Whether you're indulging in the famous duck or enjoying one of their perfectly paired wines, courtesy of Nicaise’s expertise, this spot offers a dining experience that feels like both a neighborhood favorite and a culinary destination.

Style Inspiration:

The vibe here calls for understated elegance, polished yet relaxed sophistication. Think soft neutrals and classic cuts with a contemporary edge—like a tailored trench over a silk blouse, paired with high-waisted trousers and pointed-toe flats or loafers paired with bermuda shorts.

Take a cue from these stylish gents who perfectly balance refined and effortless looks.

Dante

Dante, nestled on MacDougal Street, is where history and modern flair collide, making it a must-visit in the West Village. With its century-old roots and a fresh Australian twist, this reimagined gem has become the go-to spot for those who appreciate a blend of timeless charm and contemporary vibes. Whether you're there for a casual meetup or a first date, Dante offers an atmosphere that’s both lively and relaxed, perfect for sipping on their signature $10 happy hour martinis. The drinks are expertly crafted, with a Negroni menu that pays homage to its Italian heritage, and the food, from creamy burrata to satisfying flatbreads, is the ideal complement. It’s a place that invites you to linger, enjoy, and perhaps, indulge in a bit of day drinking as you soak in the storied ambiance.

Style Inspiration:

Dante is all about relaxed sophistication. Opt for a smart-casual look—like a cami dress with ballet flats or a denim skirt with Western-style boots. Keep it cool yet polished, just like I do when I order my favorite classic Negroni.

Sogno toscano

If you’re looking to elevate your wine game, Sogno Toscano in the West Village is the place to be. This charming Italian spot, nestled on the corner of Perry Street, offers a delightful experience for wine lovers. Whether you're a seasoned sommelier or just someone who enjoys a good glass of vino, Sogno Toscano presents a fun yet sophisticated atmosphere to explore expertly curated Italian wines. With each pour, you’ll immerse yourself in the authentic Italian ambiance. It's the perfect way to enjoy a taste of Italy right in the heart of New York.

Style Inspiration:

A wine tasting calls for a blend of casual elegance. Throw an oversized blazer over your favourite pair of jeans and call your pal for a night of vino and cheese. Take inspiration from these stylish girls on-the-go who show that looking good and enjoying wine can go hand in hand.

The West Village isn’t just a destination; it’s a lifestyle where style meets substance in the most delightful way. From hidden gems like The Noortwyck to the vibrant scene at Dante, and the elegant yet relaxed wine tastings at Sogno Toscano, each spot offers a unique experience that’s perfectly complemented by a thoughtfully curated wardrobe. Whether you’re dressing up for a special night out or keeping it casual for a laid-back meetup, the West Village invites you to do it with flair. So, the next time you’re wandering these iconic streets, let your outfit speak as loudly as your plans. After all, in the West Village, it’s not just about where you go, but how you show up.
