Scottish Colourist Flair at S.S. Daley

Scottish Colourist Flair at S.S. Daley

Tribute to British heritage

S.S. Daley Fall 2025: Scottish landscapes, bold color palettes, and Britain’s rebellious musical past collided in S.S.Daley’s Fall 2025 collection, presented at London Fashion Week. With a soundtrack of The Pet Shop Boys, The Smiths, and Marianne Faithfull. The show was a tribute to British heritage, artistic ingenuity, and the designer’s personal icons. This season, the Liverpool-born designer turned to the Scottish Colourists fro inspiration. A group of early 20th-century painters known for their atmospheric landscapes and electrifying use of color. The influence was seen in texture such as – felted textures looking to painterly brushstrokes. While prints transformed garments into abstract canvases.

Daley, a recipient of both the LVMH Prize and the British Fashion Council Award. Has built his reputation on reinterpreting British working class uniforms with theatrical storytelling. His latest collection, spanning 42 men’s and women’s clothing. Affirmed his ability to look to historical references as an influence for modern menswear. Outerwear was the backbone of the collection. Floral jacquard bomber jackets with leather lapels, checked trench coats with a Mod edge. Plus fisherman’s duffle coats felted to resemble the landscapes of Francis Campbell Boileau Cadell. Whose 1920s canvas Iona Croft served as a key reference point. Even the accessories bore the painter’s touch, with matching bags echoing the windswept hues of Scotland’s western isles.

Tribute to London

Playful yet poignant, the collection’s narrative extended beyond art history. A burgundy knit bore the stitched phrase, “Stay Faithfull to Marianne”. An homage to the late singer and style icon Marianne Faithfull, who passed away in January. The collection also paid tribute to London itself. T-shirts were emblazoned with imagined cityscapes, including Big Ben and whimsical park scenes populated by ducks and dogs.

Daley’s signature silhouettes, frilly button-downs, knits and impossibly wide legged trousers. Were present, but this time elevated with regal tailoring and a heightened sense of drama. The result was a seamless fusion of tradition and eccentricity. A formula that has captivated his most famous admirer, Harry Styles. Styles, an early supporter who wore Daley’s undergraduate collection in his ‘Golden’ music video. Has since become a key investor in the label. Further propelling its inflection a plus for the brand plugging into a fashion conscious fanbase and demographic. .

S.S. Daley’s Fall 2025 show was a celebration of Britain’s artistic and cultural legacy. With this latest outing, Daley cements his place as one of London’s most compelling voices in menswear. A designer who, much like the Scottish Colourists, darto sees the world in richer, bolder colors.

One day when I was barely two my mom let me push her out of her bedroom. She was curious so she ran outside the house so she could watch me through the window. I climbed up on a chair by her vanity and started putting on her makeup. I loved playing dress up as a kid. Putting on my mom's sequin tube tops and high heeled shoes and then putting on a dance show in the lobby or the restaurant of the hotel/residence we lived in. It was the best childhood ever. Dress-up, dancing, playing with barbies, and drawing were my favorite things to do. I have not changed one bit today. If I am creating I am happy.

Now I am in Paris for the second time in my life and I am having a ball playing with my partner in crime Julien Crouigneau. We founded IRK Magazine together in 2015 and we are proud to collaborate with some amazing artists, and influencers.

We are also a photography duo under the pseudonym French Cowboy. We love to tell stories and create poetic images that are impactful.
