For nature lovers with a penchant for luxury, there's a sanctuary amidst the Colombian Andes that speaks your language: Eco Hotel Rio de Oro. Just two hours from Medellin, this verdant haven is nestled in San Rafael, Antioquia. Rio de Oro transcends the typical eco-lodge experience, offering a harmonious blend of sustainable practices, breathtaking vistas, and unparalleled comfort. Forget roughing it – here, pampering goes hand-in-hand with environmental responsibility.

Stepping into a Natural Sanctuary:

Imagine waking up to the gentle murmur of the river that hugs the hotel, sunlight filtering through the lush canopy, and the serenade of exotic birds. This is the daily immersion that awaits you at Eco Hotel Rio de Oro. Their charming cabins, aptly named "Nido del Guadua" (Bamboo Nest), "Cabaña Luna" (Moon Cabin), and "Cabaña del Sol" (Sun Cabin), each offer a unique perspective on the surrounding beauty. Nido del Guadua, perched on stilts amidst the bamboo forest, whispers secrets of the jungle, while Cabaña Luna, with its private balcony overlooking the river, invites you to go with the flow of Pachamama. Cabaña del Sol beckons with its jacuzzi and outdoor fire pit, perfect for romantic evenings under the starry sky.

Sustainability Woven into the Fabric of Luxury:

What truly sets Eco Hotel Rio de Oro apart is its unwavering commitment to sustainability. This isn't just a marketing tagline; it's a philosophy woven into the very fabric of the experience. Solar panels bathe the property in clean energy, while rainwater harvesting systems quench its thirst without burdening the local water table. Organic waste finds new life through composting, nourishing the vibrant gardens that grace the hotel grounds. Locally sourced, ethically produced materials find their way into the cabins, from the handcrafted furnishings to the plush linens. One of our favorite, unique aspects of the ecohotel is the on-site beekeeping. Home to 14 different species of endemic bees, the ecohotel’s love for bees and pride in the important ecological role of its buzzing community will make your stay unforgettable. Need a souvenir? They have incredible honey products, from food products to soaps and sprays.

Luxury Experiences, Naturally:

However, sustainability doesn't equate to sacrificing comfort. The cabins boast king-size beds with luxurious linens, private bathrooms with eco-friendly toiletries, and ample space to unwind. Indulge in a rejuvenating massage treatment, where your stresses melt away as you listen to the charming songs of the forest.. Savor delicious locally sourced meals at the on-site restaurant, where the chefs transform regional specialties into culinary masterpieces. Dip into the hotel's natural pool, its crystal-clear waters reflecting the emerald hues of the surrounding vegetation.

Beyond the Lodge, Nature Beckons:

Beyond the haven of the hotel, adventure awaits. Hike through the property’s wild trails, teeming with vibrant flora and fauna. Embark on a tubing expedition down the Rio Oro, where adrenaline pumps as thrilling rapids show you the magic of the river. Go birdwatching and spot exotic species like titi monkeys and bluebirds flitting through the trees. Immerse yourself in the rich local culture, visiting nearby artisans who create beautiful crafts using traditional techniques.

Customer service at hotels is the key to a comfortable stay. Sometimes you check in at night after a long journey, and something is wrong with the room - and here it is important that help is available immediately. Or, for example, you urgently need information about a transfer or local services. A good divi resorts customer service solves everything quickly and politely, and this leaves a positive impression of the hotel. I believe that this is an indicator of the level of service, because attention to guests is always a priority.
