ASVOFF 2024 A Shaded View on Fashion Film at Dover Street Market in Paris

The 16th edition of A Shaded View on Fashion Film (ASVOFF) is set to take place from November 7 to November 10, 2024 at the avant-garde Dover Street Market in Paris, located at 35/37 Rue des Francs Bourgeois. This four-day event will showcase over 130 films, celebrating the creative fusion of fashion, style, and beauty in cinema. Since its inception, ASVOFF has become a trailblazer in the fashion film industry, lauded for its daring curation of both established and emerging filmmakers.

Founded by Diane Pernet, an iconic figure in the fashion world, ASVOFF is the first film festival to exclusively focus on fashion films. It challenges conventional narratives, inviting filmmakers and artists to rethink how fashion is portrayed on screen. Over the years, it has traveled to prestigious venues like the Guggenheim, Centre Pompidou, and Art Basel Miami, securing its reputation as a leading platform in both the fashion and film circuits.

This year’s festival promises a diverse array of films and themes, including thought-provoking works on mental health in fashion, AI-generated films, and climate activism for youth. Highlights of the festival include Sadie Frost’s "Quant", a documentary tribute to British fashion icon Mary Quant, which will kick off the event on opening night. Another must-see is Michael Selditch’s "Happy Clothes," exploring the illustrious career of costume designer Patricia Field, known for her work on “Sex and the City,” “Emily in Paris,” and “The Devil Wears Prada.”
