Mallorca's sunlit shores and rich cultural tapestry have long inspired artists, from Joan Miró to contemporary visionaries. This December, Palma's Galeria Fermay continues this legacy by making its debut at Untitled Art, Miami Beach, from December 4 to 8, 2024.

Established in 2022 by Antoni Ferrer, a Mallorcan curator with international experience, Galeria Fermay has swiftly become a cornerstone of the island's contemporary art scene. Ferrer’s approach intertwines local heritage with global artistic dialogues, positioning the gallery as a dynamic platform for innovative expression. Its participation in Untitled Art underscores both the gallery's rising prominence and Mallorca's evolving role in the global art landscape.

For this edition, Galeria Fermay presents works by Carla Arocha & Stéphane SchraenenNadia Barkate, and Elisa Braem. Each artist offers a unique exploration of perception, materiality, and memory, collectively engaging viewers in a multifaceted dialogue.

The collaborative duo Arocha & Schraenen delve into the nuances of light, form, and reflection. Their installations, often utilizing mirrored surfaces, challenge viewers' perceptions and invite contemplation. Their practice reflects a deep engagement with visual culture and the boundaries between the visible and the invisible.

Nadia Barkate's enigmatic sculptures and dreamlike compositions draw audiences into a realm of symbolic motifs and fragmented memories. Her work encourages introspection, resonating with the poetic sensibilities of artists who have found solace in Mallorca's landscapes.

Elisa Braem's sculptural ceramics introduce a tactile dimension to the exhibition. Her organic textures and forms explore themes of sustainability and temporality, echoing the island's tradition of deriving profound narratives from elemental materials.

Mallorca has historically been more than a picturesque destination; it has served as a crucible for creativity. The island's allure has drawn luminaries like Joan Miró, who established his studio there in 1956, and Frédéric Chopin, whose winter in Valldemossa inspired enduring compositions. Galeria Fermay's presence at Untitled Art, Miami Beach builds upon this rich heritage, signalling a new chapter in Mallorca's artistic evolution.

As the art world gathers in Miami, Galeria Fermay's exhibition stands as a testament to Mallorca's enduring influence on global culture. The gallery's presentation not only honors the island's artistic past but also heralds its future as a vibrant center for contemporary art.
