The famous Parisian landmark, Café de Flore, has been marked by art since its beginning in 1887. Located in one of the most known areas of Paris, it is the heart of intelligentsia, literature, and art. Around its tables are born famous Art trends such as Dadaism, Surrealism, and Existentialism.
Café de Flore became the center of contemporary and modern creativity inspiring mythic writers painters, fashion designers, singers and photographers: Picasso, Giacometti, Duras, Juliette Gréco, Vian, Doisneau, Cartier-Bresson, Sieff, Montand, Polanski, Bardot, Gainsbourg, Sagan, Saint-Laurent, Givenchy, Rochas, Noureev, Béjart and photographers Brassaï, Helmut Newton, Richard Avedon, Peter Lindbergh, Paolo Roversi, Mario Testino, Annie Leibovitz....
Today the Café de Flore continues to inspire and support the arts in an unprecedented collaboration with 2 Art Angels. Café de Flore has opened their doors again allowing thirty contemporary photographers curated by 2 Art Angels, to be part of its rich history.
To pay tribute to this institution, 2ArtAngels presents a retrospective exhibition of black and white photographs of the Café de Flore from 1900 to the present. This exhibition is organized in two parts: historical photographs, and also the contemporary photographs specially made by the thirty renowned artists carefully selected for this occasion.
This not to be missed photography exhibition starts tomorrow September 22, at the Gallery Anne et Just Jaekin and continues through Dec 2.
